The
design of the MITS Learning Centre provides teachers an
opportunity to facilitate learning.
This
modular unit comprises of a three sided central pillar with
three foldable horizontal desk surfaces extending from the
pillar. Plastic drawers may be housed and relocated to beneath
the desk top. In turn these are colour coded relative to
the pillar faces or display areas.
Two
modular units may be placed together to provide a hexagonal
centre using colour applicable to de Bono's thinking strategies.
Alternatively,
an additional central unit having two external faces may
be included between the units to provide eight work stations
- (Multiple Intelligences).
Though
flexible in it's use, it is envisaged that a teacher would
house work activities within the drawers and on instruction
a pupil would retrieve the drawer, place beneath the appropriate
desk top and work independently at that station.
With
the inclusion of an Audio-Visual display area and in conjunction
with the MITS ease of mobility, a teacher may relocate a
module within a classroom to enable class viewing of a video. |
